The Bonnes Blanches 2021 from Domaine Belargus is a dry Chenin Blanc from the renowned Clos des Bonnes Blanches in Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay. This north-facing slope with cool, late-ripening soils of black schist, clay, and quartz produces wines of great finesse, floral lift, and mineral tension.
Previously farmed by Jo Pithon, this emblematic Anjou Noir parcel is now vinified biodynamically by Belargus. Native fermentation, 12 months aging on fine lees in large oak barrels (demi-muids). The wine shows aromas of white flowers, fennel, mint, and wet stone. On the palate: taut, saline, and vibrantly long.
Compared to Loire icons like Richard Leroy, Jo Pithon, or Nicolas Joly, Belargus offers a modern, crystalline take on Chenin Blanc – dry, terroir-driven, and built to age.
