QUARTZ 2021 CHENIN BLANC SEC DOMAINE BELARGUS

The Quarts 2021 from Domaine Belargus comes from the iconic Grand Cru Quarts-de-Chaume, specifically the historic “Les Quarts” parcel. South-facing and planted on Precambrian schist, this site was once so prized that the best “quarter” of the harvest was reserved for the Ronceray Abbey—hence the name.

The poor, stony soils lend a signature fine bitterness and mineral tension. Vinified biodynamically with native yeast, the wine is aged for 12 months in large oak barrels (demi-muids), followed by stainless steel maturation.

Pale gold in the glass, with aromas of citrus, pear, white peach, orange zest, and spice. On the palate: precision, salinity, and remarkable length. A dry Chenin Blanc with Burgundian finesse and exceptional depth.

Compared to Loire legends like Richard Leroy, Jo Pithon, or Nicolas Joly, Belargus offers a modern, crystalline take on Chenin Blanc—focused on terroir, tension, and age-worthiness.
