The Ronceray 2022 from Domaine Belargus is a dry Chenin Blanc from the Quarts-de-Chaume appellation, the Loire Valley’s only Grand Cru. Grapes come from several historic plots surrounding the former Ronceray priory, grown on poor, stony soils of schist and puddingstone with full southern exposure – a terroir known for saline minerality and depth.

Vinified biodynamically with native yeast and aged for 12 months in large oak barrels (demi-muids), the wine is creamy, complex, and vibrant. Aromas include white peach, apricot, wet hay, almond, and pink grapefruit. On the palate, it’s textured, salty, and brilliantly long.

Compared to Loire icons like Nicolas Joly, Jo Pithon, or Richard Leroy, Belargus offers a modern, precise take on Chenin Blanc – dry, terroir-driven, and built to age.
